If you could sit down and have dinner/drinks with any one member of the Stones, past or present, dead or alive, Who would you pick? And what would you ask them/talk about?

To be clear, I don't really have any expensive guitars. I suffered a house fire in '88 I lost pretty much everything I own including the guitars I have been collecting since I was a teenager. No fire insurance either! Before that, I was pretty much a guitar snob! Now if I like the way it plays in the way it sounds I don't care what the name is on it, I'll buy it! Just guitars that suit me.

Yes! Same article! Makes me want to buy a cheap telecaster and have it done just to see how it sounds! I have a strata caster that came factory with two humbucking pick ups but, it's a strata caster so I'll leave it alone. Wife is always buying me guitars… And I've already told her that I want my next guitar to be a vintage Reso Tele. She bought me the electric resonator in the tat photo about a year ago, it's inexpensive because she wasn't sure how I would take to it. I really love playing stuff like ventilator blues on it now I want a better one!

....treble response for a dark tone

Here's what I read about it:

But some have suggested that Richards has the guitar wired in Fender’s early Broadcaster/Nocaster/Telecaster configuration, which includes a master volume and a blend control. If so, in position 1 the bridge pickup would be active, and the blend control would allow him to dial in the amount of the humbucker neck pickup he desires. Position 2 would be neck pickup only, with the blend deactivated, and position 3 would activate the neck pickup and a tone capacitor that would reduce treble response for a dark tone.

I read that too, @chuckstar. But it's all just speculation. Keith has never confirmed.

@Juji, those are great questions! Hell, I think I'd ask him for a kiss on the cheek too! You know, it's Keith freaking Richard's!!

Morning, Lady Jane and Juji! Those linens are amazing! And to think he planted it from a seed in a lemon someone gave him. Every time I've done that with citrus all I get is crappy rootstock! LOL must've been heirloom. As for the wiring of his guitar… I believe I read an article about that at some point. How he took a humbucking pick up and reversed it and then wired the volume and tone controls so that the bridge pick up is always on with the pick up selector switch in the forward position. And the tone control knob will increase or decrease the amount of fretboard pick up involved. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember. I'll see if I can find the article!

Keith, hands down. I'd talk about anything with him, but mostly I'd want to discuss guitars, guitar tone, and his intuitive timing. I want to know exactly how his '54 tele (Micawber) is wired. I'd ask him to play and teach me a song. I'd ask him for a lemon from his garden and a kiss on the cheek. 💞

No doubt about Keith. Man is a wise man, he is a being from another planet. I could be talking and listening for hours. Days and days ...
